IGNITE 2026 Explores Scientific Foundations of Church Teachings on Contraception

Powai, February 28, 2026: The EVA Pro-Life Movement of the Archeparchy of Kalyan successfully organized IGNITE 2026, a formation program focused on understanding the scientific and rational basis of the Church’s teachings on contraception. The event was held at Bishop’s House, Powai, under the guidance of Fr. Paul Kunduparambil.

The program brought together 55 participants, including nuns, students, and members from the Archdiocese of Bombay, creating a diverse and engaging learning environment.

The day commenced with a spiritually uplifting praise and worship session led by the EVA Praise and Worship Team, setting a reflective tone for the rest of the program. This was followed by a series of insightful sessions conducted by resource persons Mr. Joseph John and Ms. Natasha Makuden.

The sessions were thoughtfully structured around three key themes. The first explored the historical development of contraception, highlighting how certain practices were introduced over time. The second provided a detailed overview of various contraceptive methods, including their disadvantages and failure rates. The third addressed the perspectives of the Church, supported by references to the teachings of various saints.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, raising questions and contributing to meaningful dialogue, which added depth and interactivity to the sessions.

The program concluded on a joyful note with dinner and fellowship, leaving attendees enriched with knowledge and encouraged to reflect more deeply on the subject.
