Mulund, December 14, 2025
A Pro-Life session was conducted for the Confirmation candidates at St. Pius X Church, Mulund, with around 30–40 young participants taking part. The session was led by Mrs. Rachel Joseph and aimed at deepening the students’ understanding of the value and dignity of human life.
The discussion focused on the sanctity of life, highlighting that human life is sacred from the moment of conception. This understanding was strengthened through an explanation of when life begins, drawing from both faith and basic scientific principles.
The session also addressed what abortion is, along with an overview of the different methods of abortion and the use of abortion pills, helping the Confirmation candidates understand the seriousness of the issue and its impact on individuals and society. Abortion statistics in the Indian context were shared to provide perspective on the prevalence and reality of the situation in the country.
Another important topic was In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), with an explanation of why it is considered immoral by the Church, particularly due to concerns regarding the dignity of human life and the fate of embryos.
The session concluded with an introduction to the Crisis Pregnancy Cell and Garbhdriti, the crisis pregnancy support initiative of the Archdiocese of Kalyan, which offers care, counseling, and assistance to women facing difficult or unplanned pregnancies.
